My name is Kelly and I have two dogs, Rosie a boisterous 7 year old border collie/pointer cross and Maisie a Perranfell border collie puppy.
I started agility with Lauren in 2002, at the time I had no dog of my own so “borrowed” Megan a 10 year old collie. Megan was arthritic and could only do anysize classes however she taught me so much about the bond between dog and handler. She was an absolute darling and very much missed by myself and Lauren (who originally trained her) since she passed away in autumn 2007 aged 15 .
Rosie was a 14 month old rescue when I got her in 2002. She was very lively and completely different to Megan. As with most rescues we had our teething problems but we got through them and she is now a lovely dog to train and handle and usually the first one we give to a child who wants to have a go!
Maisie, who was born in March 2008, is my newest addition. She is my first full border collie and pedigree. So far she is appearing to be a quick little learner and is absolutely toy mad but also won’t say no to a treat either! I am looking forward to partaking in Laurens puppy classes with her where I’m sure that we are going to have a lot of fun.
What I like about Laurens method of training is that it can be used for any dog at any age even a small puppy. Its focus is very positive and easily practiced at home as most of the exercises don’t require any specialist equipment which makes it more accessible. |
