Lauren Langman - Head Trainer

My name is Lauren Langman and I am responsible for the professional dog training and agility handling for Devon Dogs. I really enjoy teaching and more than this I love dogs, and I am now able to fulfil my greatest ambition in combining them both by developing my own business, Devon Dogs.

I have always had a passion for dogs and how they can develop, and I started attending classes to learn better ways of working with my first dog, a rescue lurcher called Lucy, almost 13 years ago. We were lucky enough to have a kind and progressive trainer who helped us develop as quickly as we could, but after Lucy aged and became too unsteady for physical training, I purchased my first border collie, Bella. That is when I discovered agility, and, needless to say, I became completely and utterly hooked!

I have continued to pursue what has become an obsession over the years, and I have competed all over the country, travelling from Cornwall to Leeds. Furthermore, I quickly found myself competing at our top level in Great Britain, which is known as Grade 7, and my greatest achievement to date has been to compete on behalf of Great Britain in the World Agility Competition in Basel, Switzerland in September 2006 and again in Norway in September 2007. In 2007 I also qualified for Olympia.

Since taking up agility I have continually searched for good training in the area that would suit both my dogs, as well as my needs. I would undertake 6-hour round trips to find appropriate training and I even considered moving away from Devon due to the constant travelling. This is what inspired me to start Devon Dogs; I realised that we really needed a progressive training group in Devon to satisfy the needs of the people in our area.

It has been a real success. We initially only had capacity for a limited number of people and therefore started with what we knew best: competitive agility. However, since Devon Dogs took on a new, larger venue we have been able to introduce the agility obsession to a wider group in the region, working with a genuine variety of dogs and owners. The last two years have seen Devon Dogs expand significantly, and we continue to grow, welcoming new dogs and handlers every month
