My name is Melissa Gunter and I train both my cocker spaniels, Murphy & Cassie, with Lauren. What started out as an attempt to get my older dog, Murphy, to be well behaved has quickly become an obsession for both me and my dogs, who are as enthused about it as I am.
I started agility training with Murphy, who has just turned two, after a series of training classes gone wrong! In each of those classes there was a lot of waiting around, which is one of the reasons why we both enjoy Lauren's classes now, as there is none of this!
After a lot of work and fun Murphy has improved so much. When our older spaniel passed away, we decided to get another puppy! So now there are no lie ins on a Saturday morning as I am off training my 9 month old puppy Cassie.
It has been great to be able to train Cassie properly right from the very start and now, after losing all her puppy fat, she is proving to be a very speedy spaniel. Her backend seems to wag off every time we arrive for training at Devon Dogs!
Experiencing Lauren's different training methods has helped me so much to understand dogs and the way they work, and has pushed me further in the direction of wanting to have a career working with animals. So at only 15, and in my GCSE year, I find my life (and the parent transporting me) filled with agility at every opportunity. With a garden strewn with poles and tunnels, and a special cupboard for the dogs and their many toys and treats, I can honestly say that I am completely and utterly hooked!
