My name is Sarah Row and two dogs, Charlie and Jess, own me. Both are rescues, with varied backgrounds. They enjoy agility, but in quite different ways! They embody my philosophy that agility really is a sport that can be enjoyed by all. Charlie, my older dog enjoys having a go, but is keen to do it in his own good time (I think to be honest his favourite part is meeting everyone – and getting the yummy treats of course!) My younger dog Jess was a street dog with a broken leg. She adores flying around the course at breakneck speed, but we are careful to ensure we look after her old broken leg. Both dogs are not what you would call traditional agility dogs, but they have great fun and have opened the doors to a whole new world. I have also fostered a number of dogs for our local rescue in Ottery (although we’re taking a short break from that due to our current living accommodation!). My day job is focussed more on humans, and I have a background in psychology, psychiatric nursing, childcare, and many moons ago as a sailing instructor.
For the last 4 years however, my attention has been fully focussed on agility and obedience training, and during that time I have experienced training at a range of locations across the country. This has enabled me to learn a lot about some good and some less good training methods! One of my passions is helping those who are relatively new to the sport discover the pleasures and fun involved in agility. It really is a wonderful way to get fit, have fun and truly bond with your dog (and your dog will love you for it too). Working with Lauren at Devon Dogs has been a pleasure and a privilege. She exemplifies how kind, consistent training can develop understanding and a true bond with those who share our worlds, homes and hearts.
