Dimmer Switch Filmed Event and Workshop

23 June @ 9:30 am4:30 pm

weekly spotlight 1 mar

We all have stress buckets…and so do our dogs! That bucket represents your dog’s ability to respond to novelty and to changes in the world around them, as well as how quickly they recover afterwards. Many things pay into your dog’s bucket, and any behaviour struggle can be a symptom of a full bucket, or can be compounded by a bucket that never truly empties.

So how can you help your dog? One great life skill you can teach your dog is how to empty their stress bucket, by making the hole in the bottom of that bucket bigger. Arousal up/arousal down exercises will help grow what we call a dimmer switch. Helping your dog learn to regulate their arousal and show an appropriate level of arousal to whatever situation they find themselves in will help them perform at their best in every situation and keep that bucket empty. If your dog currently has a light switch, where their arousal is either on (jumping around running zoomies) or off (calm and relaxed or fast asleep) come and learn how to build a dimmer switch.

This filmed day with Tom and Lauren will teach you games and strategies to unlock all those missing levels in between calmness and chaos, which will ultimately make your dog much easier to live with!

This day will be filmed, and you will be required to sign an electronic film waiver the week before the workshop.

Call the office to discuss your needs or book right now on the website!

Please bring a packed lunch/snacks and hot/cold drinks for the day.

We are looking forward to having you train with us! To help us ensure you have the best possible training experience, please arrive at the start time specified for this event. Devon Dogs is a Centre of Excellence training facility and we want to ensure all training change overs are smooth and easy.

We understand it is difficult to estimate arrival times and we know you will have planned for the unexpected in your journey! Should you arrive a little early, we recommend stopping at the Shell Services just off of the A30, only half a mile away from us. There is a Little Waitrose, Greggs, Subway and Burger King with tea/coffee and lots of healthy (or not so healthy!) snacks and prepared meals as well as toilet facilities. If you wish to go for a short walk, you can access the Granite Way in Sourton.

To get the best out of your training with us, please review this *awesome link* that includes what to bring for training, what you need if you are training in Bowerland Arena plus some helpful tips.

Please be aware that you may experience difficulties making a payment if you are using a mobile device.
