Track It Down, Search Days
29 April @ 10:00 am – 1 May @ 4:00 pm£360.00
What an exciting time we have planned for you!
What will we cover, I hear you say……. Well, for starters we have Search and Rescue, Scent, Big Area Searches, Man Trailing, Building or Enclosed Area Search, Imprinting and Pairing as well as many other fun games to work on. Do you fancy seeing how your dog can literally sniff you out from wherever you are hiding, or would you like your dog to search and find other items? Would you like to put your dog’s nose to the test?
Scent Work is a positive, challenging activity
Scent work allows dogs the opportunity to use their strongest natural sense in a way that’s fun, engaging, and builds and strengthens a foundation of trust between the handler and dog. It is perfect for any dog and we welcome all ages and types of dogs! Some dogs tend to have a more natural aptitude to this kind of work, but whatever the attitude of your dog, you will bring out their truly natural behaviour. This event is a great, healthy way to develop your relationship with your dog, and give your relationship a great big BOOST! It will also suit Naughty But Nice dogs who have either had a 1-2-1 with us or been on an intense or a holiday package with our trainers! If in doubt, ask us!
Mimics the task of working dogs in locating a scent
Scent work is huge new way of working, and for us here at Devon Dogs it is a sport that mimics the task of working dogs in locating a scent (e.g. such as for explosives, drugs, or firearms). Our dogs are genius with their noses and communicate to their handlers appropriately that the scent has been found. This fantastic training event will allow your dog to use their natural ability and strong working senses in a way that’s fun, engaging, and that builds and strengthens a foundation of trust between the handler and dog. It’s a true joy to watch and participate in and your dog will thank you for the opportunity to work with their instincts.
A few things we will cover over these 3-days:
- teaching your dog to search a specific scent and making pairings
- finding appropriate human scented articles
- setting up a search area
- teaching your dog to appropriately indicate
- the use of food and toys for search work
You will be truly inspired and will take away with you homework to work on that will take you to the next level! It’s going to be awesome! Don’t miss out on your space, as there are limited places available, book soon to avoid disappointment. Please bring a packed lunch/snacks and a mug for a hot drink. And because this is a holiday, we will aim to take this all out and about! The initial days will be all about building foundation skills so that we can take the dogs out and about to play some fun games in a rich new environment…and we may even find somewhere to have a nice social to finish the four days. We cannot wait – it’s going to be a very special week.
